Synopsis
Nos mémoires sont devenues le rêve de machines. Au sein d'une terre devenue inhabitable, s'étend une arche souterraine où des machines conservent et manipulent le vivant pour y préparer sa renaissance. La rencontre entre un personnage né d'un utérus artificiel et un androïde fait émerger de nouvelles identités hybrides
Dans les profondeurs d'une Terre abîmée, s'étend une arche dédiée à la préservation de la mémoire du monde. Sa conservation est confiée à des machines autonomes qui veillent sur la renaissance des plantes et l’émergence d’enfants conçus hors du corps. L'histoire de The Body Multiple se déploie à travers la rencontre entre un personnage né d'un utérus artificiel et un androïde, gardien de ce refuge. Ce lieu est à la fois l'archive d'un passé éteint et le germoir d'un avenir incertain, qui explore la zone trouble où s’effacent les frontières entre le vivant et l’artificiel.
Inspiré par le courant philosophique du post-humanisme, Thomas Pendeliau explore l'ambiguïté d'une survie entièrement déléguée à l'intelligence artificielle. Dans ce refuge où l'humanité n'est plus centrale, la fin de la hiérarchie entre les êtres s'accompagne d'une nouvelle servitude. Le f ilm propose une rêverie sur l'héritage ambigu d'un monde où la technologie et le vivant façonnent de nouvelles formes de conscience et d'identité façonnées par l'artifice. Que deviennent la filiation et la mémoire quand elles ne sont plus transmises, mais calculées par une machine ?
Le choix d’une narration hybride, mêlant prises de vue réelles, imagerie médicale et images générées par l’IA, reflète cette volonté de brouiller les frontières entre ce qui est perçu comme authentique et ce qui est fabriqué. Ce procédé traduit également une démarche artistique plus large : celle d'explorer les manières dont l'intelligence artificielle façonne de nouveaux imaginaires et, par extension, les réalités qui en découlent
In the depths of a damaged Earth lies an ark dedicated to preserving the memory of the world. Its conservation is entrusted to autonomous machines that watch over the rebirth of plants and the emergence of children conceived outside the body. The story of The Body Multiple unfolds through the encounter between a character born from an artificial womb and an android, guardian of this refuge. This place is both the archive of an extinct past and the seedbed of an uncertain future, exploring the murky area where the boundaries between the living and the artificial are blurred.
Inspired by the philosophical movement of post-humanism, Thomas Pendeliau explores the ambiguity of survival entirely delegated to artificial intelligence. In this refuge where humanity is no longer central, the end of hierarchy
between beings is accompanied by a new form of servitude. The film offers a reverie on the ambiguous legacy of a world where technology and living beings shape new forms of consciousness and identity shaped by artifice. What becomes of filiation and memory when they are no longer transmitted, but calculated by a machine?
The choice of a hybrid narrative, combining live action, medical imagery, and AI-generated images, reflects this desire to blur the boundaries between what is perceived as authentic and what is fabricated. This process also reflects a broader artistic approach: that of exploring the ways in which artificial intelligence shapes new imaginaries and, by extension, the realities that result from them.
